Installation
- Masterline VJ or beaded boards should not be installed until the building is to a watertight or lock-up stage.
- Walls:- studs to be a maximum of 455 mm centres
- Ceilings:- batterns to be a maximum 300 mm centres
- Paint the back of ceiling sheets with acrylic sealer under-coat before installation.
- Where dampness may affect the sheeting of the inside of the external walls they should be painted or starking provided.
- When using M.R. (Moisture Resistant) for damp areas (bathrooms, etc) cut sheet to size, seal edges and paint back of sheet.
- support T & G (Tongue and Groove) on studs where possible or provide nogging at 600mm centres.
- Use Stud Adhesive eg. Bostik wallboard adhesive (follow manufacturers instructions) . The use of paste type adhesive eg. water-based is not recommended. As well as adhesive, nail or screw sheets at 600mm intervals along studs.
- Leave 1mm gap (at T & G joint ) between the sheets to allow for structural movements. At internal corners allow 3mm clearance between timber and cover with moulding.
- Clearance of 10mm should be allowed for, at top and bottom of sheets.
- Seal face of sheet as soon as possible after installation, (if not using pre primed board).
- If end of sheets butt (eg. large ceilings), cover joint with suitable feature moulding.
Sealer Undercoat
- Masterline now offer another innovation in time saving, with the face of the VJ or beaded sheeting already sealed, you only have to apply two finish coats to the installed sheet.
Painting
Stop all holes with acrylic filler and sand to a smooth finish. Use only acrylic sealer/ undercoat (waterbased). For the second and third coats if not using acrylic, talk to your paint dealer is an oil based topcoat is preferred. Dust off sheets before painting, lightly sand sheets between coats.
